End of the Year 2013

Well the past few months have been rough .... for me at least ... which means that the critters have been lacking for attention.

I made a point of weighing and snapping a few pics earlier this month, but I didn't get all them done. There are still 3 that I am hoping to get taken care of over the next few days.

Tonight, before even booting up the laptop, I spent at least 5 minutes with each of the critters. I hope to do this more regularly (yes I know I say that a lot and still fail at it) .... partly for me, and partly so they can get used to me again. I have also had a few co-workers express interest in having a gecko as a pet, and they are interested in the breeding results from Lucinda & Ghost. That being said, I am encouraging strongly that these people come over at least once in the evening to get to know how to take care of geckos, and to get an idea on what to expect with them.

The trick is working amid all our schedules LOL

Nov 6, 2013

Well, since my attempts to stop Ravyn from making googly-snack eyes at the crtters has pretty much failed, I have decided to let them figure it out. Neither her nor them are going to be gotten rid of, so they might as well learn to accept the way things run here.

As a side note, Ravyn is doing her nightly crack-head routine (aka running like her butt is on fire from one room to the other) while I am typing this. I can hear the loss of traction on corners, and am very gld for the small rug in the hallway. Even so, there are still thuds to be heard....

I took advantage of Ravyn being elsewhere (aka eyeing the other critters) and did some hands-on time with Lady M. She was not too jumpy, but MAN she has grown! I am going to have to do a weigh-in on them all soon .....

Charlie

Well she has done it ....

She has been digging ... burrowing almost ... odd if you think about it in a general sense ...

But perfect sense for a gecko getting ready to lay her eggs ... duds or not ....

So now to count and see if she is 40days apart like Lucinda .... speaking of which, I gotta check when her next are .... need those schedules you know .... babies in the new year maybe ....

New News

Sorry for the big gap in posts but life has been crazy.

We now have a furry critter in our midst, and her name is Ravyn. She is a long hair black tiny 3 year old kitten that I have given a home to after she was abandoned by rude people in my building. So far the geckos don't seem too worried about her and I have seen at least three of them have stare-downs with her. Her boldness leads me to think she knows she is safe here, and is home.

Sadly, this has meant the geckos have been not getting their hands-on time with me like they used to. With work and stress of life, I have not been as attentive with them, and their tanks have suffered. This, along with more hands-on time, is my goal going forward. I am going to need to get them to "remember" me by giving them a bit of time each night.

Tonight, I did a couple minutes of hands-on time with 3 of them after spraying them for the night. I kept my hands in the tank for the most part because it is going to be along road back to where we had been. Red has been jumpy a lot more since the cat's arrival, and has been a big part of Ravyn's learning. I did a bit of hands-on and was happy to see him calm down pretty quickly. Lucinda did seem to be a bit more jumpy in comparison, and wanted to explore a bit more than I was ready for. Charlie, well she was nearly completely IN her dirt, like she was burrowing or something. She has always been one of the most panicy of them, so her time will take a bit to recover. She has also started laying her duds so I guess she is a bit confused on things.

Max, Sylvester (90% sure is female) and Lady M even seem to have no worries about being stared at by the cat. I am not going to encourage it though .....

Well time for bed and for Ravyn's special time to cuddle and get attention .... as if she was starving for it .... LOL

Lady M (as usual) got vocal ... but then was not really in a hurry to go back into her house ... many of the others did the gecko "bite" thing .... no damage but seriously? Sheesh ....

Quick Post

Just a quick note ...

Put the new decorations into the various tanks tonight with interesting results.

Sylvester seemed to just stare at his decor of hanging vines, as if trying to figure out where they had appeared from.

Red seems to be taking his 2 new hanging vines and twisted vine all in stride.

Ghost ... well he has more things to hide behind which should suit him fine since he is still adapting and adjusting.

Lady M enjoyed her new decor and seems to be adapting well. She doesn't run and hide when I do the nightly sprays. She has also gone from 5g to 10.5g in about 7 or 8 weeks.

Update Aug 13

Well ther have been some positive things of late....

A few of thrm liked the banana flavored food, but more of them seem happy to be back on the regular stuff. In a couple of weeks I will see how they handle the mango flavor.

I have noticed that Sylvester is not so much "what ya doing?" in the mornings, and it would appear to have been a phase he went through. I am still waiting though to see if he is indeed a he or not. There seems to be no issue on what he will eat ... he devoured the food in front of him without a worry. He does seem to be making "friends" with Lady M in her tank that sits besde his, but as yet I am not sure if it is a best-buddies thing, or a making-eyes thing yet ... it may even be a territorial thing. It will take more time to know ....

Lady M has a habit of squaking at me when I go to handle her, but she is getting better at things. The last time I picked her up she didn't complain. Mind you, she was a bit distracted with her neighbour. She seems to be settling in just fine, eating and whatnot. The only odd ting is she runs for her hide when I spray them at night. I figure she will adapt sooner or later to this all ....

Ghost as well is settling in now, even though we were off to a slow start. It took a while for him to come out, and even then he would hide as soon as I came near or opened the tank door. He is eating more now, and he actually did't bolt when I opened the door to spray tonight. He just sat there, working on last night's food. I hope to soon be able to handle him, even if it is just a few minutes.....

Well thats it from me and the critter crew .... more vids and weight updates soon!
